RSPCA Queensland's Pre-Budget Submission FY26-27

With a focus on building community resilience and supporting animal welfare, RSPCA Queensland’s Pre-Budget Submission 2026–27 highlights the vital services that support better animal outcomes.

Aligned with our 2030 RSPCA Operational Strategy with a focus on protection, prevention and connection, our submission outlines practical, evidence-based solutions to improve outcomes for animals and people.

Our submission identifies key areas where support is most needed, including investment in our Inspectorate services, community education, wildlife care and disaster preparedness to meet growing demand across the state in line with community expectations.

As the Queensland Government continues to take action to help more Queenslanders live safe and healthy lives in their own homes, RSPCA Queensland asks for provisions in the 2026-27 budget aligned in the following areas.

Grow Safe and capable Queensland Communities

• Increase the number of government appointed RSPCA Inspectors to enforce the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 and mitigate risk of harm. 
• Help expand RSPCA Queensland community and education programs.

Strengthen the Queensland Economy

• Grow tourism by ensuring our native wildlife are safe and thriving. 
• Embed action to protect wildlife in disaster response planning and preparedness.
• Support and grow volunteer capacity to improve animal welfare.

Targeted funding in these areas will help RSPCA Queensland work to address the root causes of animal welfare issues and create a future where animals and people can thrive together.
