RSPCA Queensland Inspectors are seeking public assistance after the death of a dog in an alleged baiting incident in Helensvale.


On Thursday 17 September 2026, a five-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback died within hours of ingesting an unknown substance while walking at Rivertree Park in Helensvale.


Another dog became critically ill and is recovering in the care of veterinarians.


Under the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001, those found guilty of animal cruelty offences can face a maximum penalty of $322,600 or 3 years imprisonment.


RSPCA Inspectors are urgently appealing to the public for information and are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact the RSPCA by calling 1300 ANIMAL (264 625) or via our website.
