What you need to know

H5 highly pathogenic avian influenza or commonly known as H5 bird flu H5 bird flu is a viral disease that primarily affects birds. It can cause serious illness and death in wild birds and poultry and may also affect some other animals if they come into contact with sick birds.

RSPCA Queensland is closely monitoring the H5 bird flu situation and working with relevant government agencies and animal welfare partners.

Reporting bird flu

If you notice sick or dead birds or other animals, or observe possible signs of bird flu, you should not touch them or get too close. Keep your pets away.
