Penny's Story

Looking for a new addition to your girl group? Here comes Penny!

Penny is the complete package: sweet, smart, well-mannered, and ready to be the star of your girl group. With her adorable stumpy tail and angelic personality, she's serving main character energy wherever she goes. This clever girl loves her people and is highly food-motivated, making her a dream to train. She already knows her sits, has lovely manners, and would much rather impress you with her good behaviour than cause any trouble. Penny is also toilet trained and would happily claim a spot curled up at the end of your bed after a busy day.

Like any true pop princess, Penny wants to be included in everything. Camping trip? She's in. Hiking adventure? Count her in. Netflix marathon on the couch? Her favourite. She just wants to spend time with her people and be part of the fun.

Penny gets along beautifully with male dogs and could happily join a home with a social male companion. She's not so interested in joining a girl gang with other female dogs, preferring to keep the spotlight to herself. She can live with kids and is currently untested with cats.

If you're looking for a sweet, loyal bestie who's got the brains, beauty, and personality of a chart-topping superstar, Penny is ready to join your family.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
