Rocket's Story

Looking for a fun-loving best friend to add adventure, laughter and lots of love to your life? Then let us introduce you to the one and only Rocket!

At just 1 year old, Rocket is a handsome desexed Husky x Staffy with a stunning sandy-coloured coat and a personality that's every bit as bright as his good looks.

Rocket is a friendly, social boy who enjoys making canine friends through steady, controlled introductions. While he can get along with other dogs, he has a soft spot for the ladies! He would absolutely thrive with a playful female dog companion who enjoys zoomies around the yard, some rambunctious wrestling sessions, and of course, snuggling up together afterwards.

Rocket's life before coming into care was a little chaotic, and he simply hasn't had the guidance, training and opportunities every young dog deserves. Because of this, he's searching for a very special family willing to give him the time and patience he needs to decompress from shelter life and begin an exciting new chapter.

This energetic young lad loves:

  • Splashing around in water
  • Playing with toys
  • Going on sniffaris and exploring the world
  • Adventure walks and outings
  • Hearing that he's the goodest boy (which he absolutely is!)

As a young Husky x Staffy, Rocket can be bouncy, boisterous and full of enthusiasm for life. His ideal home will be an active household where he's included as a valued family member, not simply left alone in the backyard for hours on end.

Rocket deserves a loving home where he can enjoy daily exercise, enrichment, training and quality time with his people. With patience, consistency and plenty of love, this wonderful boy has all the potential to become an incredible companion and lifelong friend.

If you're ready to invest the time, effort and energy into helping a deserving young dog reach his full potential, Rocket will repay you with loyalty, affection and endless happy memories.

Rocket is ready to find his very own family. Could that be you?

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
