Kaylee's Story

Meet Kaylee, the perfect mix of smart, fun, and incredibly devoted to her people. A regular helper in our Happy Paws Happy Hearts training sessions (Find out more here), she loves showing off her impressive training skills and loves learning, engaging, and being involved. While she's not too interested in making any doggy friends, Kaylee has more than enough love to share with her favourite humans and will happily be your biggest fan. We're pretty sure she believes she is a fellow human.

This beautiful girl knows how to keep life entertaining, whether she's playing tug, chasing a ball, or showing off her favourite self-play tricks with her toys. Once the fun is over, she's equally happy to curl up at your feet with a tasty treat (a Kong is her absolute favourite!) and enjoy some downtime close to her family.

Kaylee is looking for a home with a secure yard and a family who will include her in their daily adventures. In return, you'll gain a loyal, affectionate companion who will fill your days with laughter, love, and endless enthusiasm for life.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
