Benny's Story

Hi, I'm Benny! 🐾

I'm a sweet young man who loves attention and will happily curl up in your lap whenever I get the chance. I'm very food motivated and enjoy all kinds of enrichment, so learning new things with tasty treats is one of my favourite activities!

I'm still working on building my confidence, especially when out and about, and I'm learning how to walk politely on lead. With patience, encouragement, and plenty of positive experiences, I'll be able to feel more comfortable exploring the world at my own pace.

Because I love my people so much, I'll be looking for a family who is home more often than not while I continue building my confidence and independence. I'd be happy to meet other doggy friends and may enjoy having a female canine companion in my new home.

If you're looking for a loving little man who wants nothing more than to be by your side, I'd love to meet you! 💕🐾

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
