Frequently asked questions

What should I do if my pet has passed away?

The loss of a pet is incredibly difficult and it can be emotionally distressing knowing what to do next to honour your companion. Here are some starting points:

  • Talk to your local vet about what options are available and if your pet needs to be collected from your home. Your vet can help alleviate the stresses of organising post-mortem matters.
  • You can independently plan a cremation for your pet. Our RSPCA Pets at Rest team can guide you in this process. You can also choose to bury your pet at your property. Just check with your local council if this is possible at your property.
