Lily's Story

๐Ÿพ Meet Lily ๐Ÿพ

โค๏ธ Lily is a beautiful 3-year-old Red Cattle Dog who has already overcome more hardship than any dog ever should.

Before coming into our care, Lily endured an appalling life where she was permanently tethered, with little shelter from the elements, no reliable access to clean water, and only enough food to survive. ๐Ÿ’” Despite this heartbreaking start, Lily has shown an incredible capacity to forgive, heal, and trust again.

๐ŸŒผ Today, Lily is discovering the simple joys of life. She loves leisurely walks, regular nutritious meals, a soft comfy bed, and plenty of cuddle time. Most of all, Lily adores kind, gentle humans. ๐Ÿฅฐ Nothing makes her happier than being close to her people, leaning in for affection and soaking up every pat and scratch she can get.

๐Ÿก As Lily continues her healing journey, she is looking for a home that can offer patience, understanding, and stability. She will need adopters who are willing to give her the time and space she needs to decompress and settle into family life after such a difficult past.

โœจ Lily's wish list includes: ๐Ÿถ A patient and understanding family

๐Ÿ– High-quality nutrition to help her thrive after missing out for so long

๐Ÿ›๏ธ A comfy indoor bed where she can sleep safely with her family nearby

๐Ÿ’• Lots of love, kindness, and reassurance as she continues to blossom

๐Ÿ• Lily tolerates other dogs but prefers respectful interactions and doesn't appreciate dogs that are overly pushy or constantly in her face. While we don't feel she needs a canine companion, we are open to discussing suitable matches. A calm, sociable male dog may be the best fit, and we're happy to arrange meet-and-greets. ๐Ÿค

โš ๏ธ Potential adopters should also be aware that Lily can jump surprisingly high, so secure fencing is a must. While she has made no attempts to jump any fences during her time in our care, we want to make sure she remains safe and secure in her new home.

๐ŸŒŸ Lily is a truly special girl who is learning that life can be kind. She is gentle, affectionate, and incredibly deserving of a loving family to call her own. For the right people, Lily will be a loyal and devoted companion with so much love left to give.

๐Ÿ’– After everything she has endured, Lily isn't asking for much. Just a comfy bed, a full tummy, gentle hands, and a family who will love her forever.

๐Ÿพ Could you be the happy ending Lily has been waiting for? ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿพ

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, itโ€™s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and familyโ€™s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
