Ruby's Story

🐾🌾 Meet Ruby 🌾🐾

πŸ’– A Little Country Girl Looking for Her Forever Family πŸ’–

Ruby is a gorgeous 3-year-old Border Collie with the sweetest heart and a soul full of forgiveness. ❀️ Despite spending much of her life on a tether, Ruby has never lost her love for people or her enthusiasm for life. She is proof that even after a difficult start, a dog can still choose joy. 🌈✨

🚜🌾 Ruby is a true country girl at heart. Her dream life isn't sitting in a suburban backyard with nothing to do. Instead, she dreams of:

  • πŸš™ Riding in the ute
  • πŸ›ž Running alongside the quad bike
  • 🌿 Exploring acreage with her people
  • β˜€οΈ Being involved in everyday family adventures
  • πŸ‘£ Following her favourite humans everywhere as their loyal little shadow

Ruby is wonderfully small and compact, making her the perfect size for tagging along wherever life takes you. πŸ•πŸ’•

🧠⚑ Smart, Busy & Ready to Learn

Like any clever Border Collie, Ruby thrives when her brain and body are kept busy. She absolutely loves:

  • πŸŽ“ Learning new things
  • πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Being active
  • πŸ’¦ Splashing in water
  • 🌟 Having a job to do
  • ❀️ Spending time with her people

She is a bright little genius who loves being included and truly blossoms when she feels part of the family. When she's had a day full of activity, Ruby settles beautifully and has not been destructive in her pen. πŸ’€πŸ˜Š

🐢 Ruby & Other Dogs

Ruby has successfully passed her dog assessments and can enjoy canine company. 🐾

She can become very excited and occasionally frustrated around other dogs, especially when she can't get to them. With patient handling and gradual introductions, Ruby can make wonderful dog friends. πŸ’•

In fact, she already has a best mate in the shape of a playful male Kelpie. Together they spend hours:

  • πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨ Racing around
  • 🐾 Enjoying rambunctious play sessions
  • πŸ’¦ Splashing in the pool
  • β˜€οΈ Living their best country dog lives

Ruby may benefit from a friendly, sociable canine companion in her new home. πŸ•πŸ’•

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Home Requirements

Because Ruby spent so much of her early life isolated on a tether, she developed a habit of air-snapping when frustrated or overstimulated. This behaviour is not directed at people, but rather her way of expressing excitement or frustration when lots is happening around her and she feels left out.

For this reason, Ruby would be best suited to:

βœ… A breed-savvy home

βœ… Older children

βœ… An active family

βœ… An acreage or rural lifestyle

βœ… People who want their dog involved in daily life

❀️ Ruby's Perfect Match

Ruby isn't looking for perfection. She's looking for belonging.

She deserves a family who sees beyond her rough start and recognises the incredible dog waiting underneath. A family who will take her for ute rides, let her supervise farm chores, take her swimming, teach her new tricks and make her feel included every single day. πŸšœπŸŒΎβ˜€οΈ

In return, Ruby promises unwavering loyalty, endless enthusiasm, plenty of laughs and a lifetime of devotion. πŸ₯°πŸΎ

🌟 If you're searching for a clever, affectionate country companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Ruby may just be your perfect match. 🌟

πŸ’–πŸΎ Ruby is ready to leave her past behind and start the country adventure she's always dreamed of. Could that adventure be with you? πŸΎπŸ’–πŸŒˆπŸ‘

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
