Roxi's Story

Meet Roxi, the bright spark with a big heart.

Roxi is a sweet young Border Collie x Cattle Dog pup with a soft black-and-white coat, gentle eyes, and a personality that leans a little more thoughtful than her sister. At just a few months old, she’s already showing signs of being a clever, sensitive, people-focused girl who wants nothing more than to feel safe, included, and loved.

Personality

Roxi is the quieter thinker of the duo — curious, observant, and happiest when she’s close to her humans. She warms up quickly with kindness and is the type of pup who’ll bond deeply with her family. She’s playful in that soft, sweet puppy way, and she’s still figuring out the big world one gentle step at a time.

Ideal Home

Roxi will thrive with a family who can offer:

  • A calm, reassuring environment where she can build confidence
  • Daily enrichment - sniffing, exploring, learning, playing
  • Positive, patient guidance as she grows
  • Plenty of companionship - she’s not a dog who wants to be left out
  • Another friendly dog could help her settle, but she’ll also do well as the only pup with engaged humans

Training Needs

Roxi is young, bright, and ready to learn. She’ll benefit from:

  • Consistent routines
  • Positive reinforcement training
  • Gentle exposure to new experiences
  • Opportunities to make choices and feel safe doing so

With the right support, Roxi will blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion who’ll follow you from room to room and curl up beside you at the end of every day.

Ready to meet her?

Roxi is currently in our Bundaberg shelter and will be available once she’s completed her vet work. If you’re looking for a sweet, thoughtful pup to grow up with your family, Roxi might be your perfect match.

What should I feed my puppy?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my puppy?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
