Zeland's Story

Zeland (Or affectionately known as Zeezo) is the kind of dog who leaves paw prints on your heart. With his incredibly gentle and trusting nature, he forms deep bonds with the people around him and is happiest when he's sharing life's little moments with his family. Whether he's curled up beside you for a cosy lounge snuggle or simply keeping you company while you go about your day, Zeland has a wonderful balance of affection and independence that makes him an absolute joy to live with. As an added bonus, he hardly sheds at all!

Zeland is a smart lad who has already learned a range of skills, including loose lead walking, "sit", "drop", and an impressive "with me" command that helps him focus on his handler. He's eager to learn, food motivated, and loves working with his people.

This sweet boy would thrive in a busy household where there's always something happening to keep him engaged and entertained. His patient, easy-going temperament means he would likely fit beautifully into a family environment and could happily tolerate the energy and excitement that comes with rambunctious children. While Zeland adores people, he would be best suited to a home without feline siblings.

If you're searching for an active companion, Zeland is ready to be your new adventure buddy. He loves to stay on the go and makes an excellent running partner, with energy to spare and enthusiasm for whatever the day brings. Whether you're looking for a loyal family friend, a cuddle companion, or a four-legged exercise partner, Zeland is ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and endless companionship. Must meet all members of the household at the time of adoption meet to ensure a good match between Zeland (Zeezo) and humans and potentially a canine sibling!

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
