Learn dog body language
While our canine companions can’t speak to us verbally, we can learn a lot about what they are saying through body language.

Missy is a gentle, beautiful girl who can feel shy and worried, especially in new environments or when meeting unfamiliar people. She's looking for a patient, understanding family willing to give her the time and space she needs to settle in, build trust, and grow in confidence. A calm, quiet home would suit her best, ideally with indoor-outdoor access and plenty of opportunities to spend relaxed, quality time together. Missy is a beautiful dog with an amazing temperament, she's a dog you come by once in a lifetime, sometimes she can be worried but once she feels safe, Missy is incredibly affectionate-she loves pats, leaning into you, resting her head on your lap, and enjoying gentle shoulder rubs. She can be sensitive to close handling or restraint, so ongoing positive, reward-based training will help her continue to feel secure and confident. Missy will also need time to adjust before starting walks, as new places can be overwhelming. Beginning with short, quiet outings after she has bonded with her family will set her up for success. She can be reactive towards dogs, so we recommend ongoing positive reinforcement training and management to support her. Best suited to a family with calm, older children who can understand her body language and respond appropriately, Missy can be very worried and unsure with new people, close handling and loud/unpredictable movements. She has also shown some fear towards Lino/ slippery floors, she has shown some improvement and confidence when given time (and a few mats) so this is also something to consider! Must meet all family at time of adoption. May prefer a calm, older dog friend in the home as she can be very tense and unsure of boisterous, barky dogs. She can become reactive and growling with these dogs. More social and soft with calm, female dog. Must meet other dog at time of adoption.
