Zanna's Story

Meet Zanna

Zanna's start to life was far from what any puppy deserves. For much of her first year, she had very little opportunity to experience the world, learn about new things, or enjoy the simple joys of being a dog.

Thankfully, Zanna's story didn't end there. Since coming into our care, she has been given the time, support and kindness she needed to start building confidence and discover just how wonderful life can be.

A gentle soul

Beneath her shy exterior is an incredibly sweet, gentle girl who forms deep and meaningful bonds with the people she trusts. Once you've earned a place in Zanna's heart, you'll have a loyal companion by your side. She loves being close to her people and is happiest when she feels safe and secure.

Zanna can be a little nervous when meeting new people or facing unfamiliar situations, but with patience, understanding and positive experiences, she continues to grow more confident every day. Watching her blossom has been incredibly rewarding.

Dog-friendly and social

One of Zanna's favourite things in the world is other dogs. She absolutely thrives in the company of calm, confident canine companions and takes great comfort from having a dog friend by her side. A sociable resident dog would help her continue building confidence and show her that new experiences aren't so scary after all.

Her ideal home

Zanna is looking for a family who will give her the time she needs to settle in and continue her journey. Her perfect home would offer:

  • A calm and predictable routine
  • A quiet environment where she can feel secure
  • Gentle, patient guidance as she gains confidence
  • A friendly, well-adjusted dog companion
  • Understanding people who will let her progress at her own pace

Because Zanna can be sensitive, she would be best suited to a home with older children who can recognise when she may need some space and help build her trust through positive interactions.

Why you'll love her

Zanna is a true hidden gem. She may take a little time to come out of her shell, but once she does, you'll discover an affectionate, loyal and incredibly loving companion. Every small milestone is a celebration, and seeing her confidence grow is something really special.

She's already come such a long way and is now ready for the next chapter—a loving home where she can continue to flourish, make happy memories and enjoy all the adventures life has to offer.

Could you be the family that helps Zanna write her happily ever after?

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
