Zanna's Story

🐾 Meet Zanna - A Gentle Soul Ready to Bloom CURRENTLY IN FOSTER CARE NON -NEGOTIABLES: Adopter must already own a sociable dog. Primary care giver needs to be female. Older kids only. 🌱 Her Story Zanna's first year of life was heartbreaking. She spent her days confined to a tiny 2m x 2m enclosure, sharing the space with another dog who was often aggressive toward her. Despite this, Zanna never responded with aggression of her own. She was then moved to a stock float where she lived without shelter, bedding, or comfort, sleeping on muddy ground until our incredible inspectorate team rescued her. This was her entire world. No freedom. No kindness. No chance to just be a puppy. Understandably, Zanna came to us under-socialised, fearful, and overwhelmed by open spaces-almost agoraphobic. But from the moment she arrived, she began a new journey: one of healing, choice, and growing confidence. 💖 Who Zanna Is Becoming Underneath her difficult past is an incredibly sweet, gentle‑natured girl who wants nothing more than to feel safe and loved. Once Zanna trusts someone, her bond is deep and unshakeable-she becomes a little velcro shadow with four paws. She can be shy and nervous when faced with new people or changes in her environment, but when given time, patience, and positive interactions, she reveals her soft, affectionate heart. 🐶 Her Relationship With Other Dogs Despite her past, Zanna truly loves other dogs. She thrives around confident, calm, sociable canine companions, and having a dog friend significantly helps her navigate the human world and overcome her fears. She tends to gravitate naturally towards women, but she is open to building trust with anyone who approaches her with the right energy-gentle, slow, and never forceful. 🌼 What Zanna Needs Zanna is looking for a home that can offer: * Time to decompress and feel safe * Gentle routines with minimal pressure * A calm, steady dog friend to guide her * A quiet environment where she can continue building confidence * Patient humans who understand trauma recovery takes time-and love She is a little flower ready to bloom, but she needs the right garden to flourish. ❤️ Why She's Worth It Zanna is the sweetest little soul you'll ever meet. Once she trusts you, her loyalty is absolute. She is affectionate, gentle, and incredibly loving. Zanna isn't just looking for a home - she's looking for a safe space to grow, heal, and finally live the life she deserves.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
