Bailey's Story

Hiya! I'm Bailey If you're looking for a cuddly shadow with a big heart and a personality that will keep you smiling, I might be your girl. I love being close to my people and will happily snuggle up beside you whenever I get the chance. I'm affectionate, a little bit goofy, and once I bond with someone I'm incredibly loyal. Shelter life has been a little stressful for me, but I have blossomed in foster care! It has helped that my foster carers have given me a calm home where I can settle into a gentle routine and feel safe. I bond closely with my people and really enjoy having them around, so I'd do best with a family who is home most of the day and able to spend time with me while I adjust. Once I feel secure, I'm a loving companion who just wants to be part of everything you're doing. I absolutely love other dogs and am very social and playful with them. Having a friendly dog in my new home to keep me company would be amazing, especially when my humans need to step out. Because I love my people so much, I can get a little worried when they leave. With patience and a gradual routine, I'll learn that everything is okay. I can also jump quite high when I'm excited, so secure and well maintained fencing would be important for me. I might be a little nervous about needles, so I'll need some gentle support during vet visits. I'd probably suit a home with older children who can help keep things calm and maybe even join in with training and games. Mostly though, I'm just a sweet, affectionate girl who loves people and other dogs, and I'm looking for a home where I can relax, play, and make my new family smile every day. (I am a no cat kind of girl) I look forward to seeing you soon!! xoxo Bailey

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
