Matilda's Story

Meet Matilda

Sweet Matilda is a gentle girl with a beautiful nature. She can be a little shy when faced with new situations, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her sweet and affectionate personality begins to shine.

Matilda is suitable for inexperienced owners, with dog training classes recommended to help build her confidence, strengthen your bond and give her the best start in her new home.

She would love an indoor/outdoor lifestyle where she can spend plenty of time inside with her family while also having a secure yard to explore and enjoy.

Matilda is suitable for children of all ages, although we recommend younger children attend the meet and greet.

Matilda is looking for a home where she can be the only dog and enjoy all the love and attention. She has not been tested with cats.

Secure fencing of at least 5ft is recommended to keep her safe.

With patience, reassurance and plenty of love, sweet Matilda is sure to blossom into a wonderful companion.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
