Bazzle's Story

Bazzle is a playful and active young boy who is looking for a family with plenty of quality time to spend with him. He loves being around his people and will thrive in a home where he can be included in family life, spend time indoors and continue his training. He is a smart boy who already knows his sit and is learning down. Bazzle can get a little jumpy and excited at times, so helping him practise calm behaviours and introducing crate or mat training can give him a nice space to relax and unwind. He can also be a little unsure of loud noises and fast movement, so allowing him time to settle in and build a bond with his new family will help him feel comfortable.

Bazzle enjoys keeping his mind busy and would love enrichment such as Kongs, snuffle boxes, milk bottles and egg cartons. He has previously jumped a 6ft fence, so a secure, solidly fenced yard and some supervision when outside will help keep him safe. He may suit older, calm children who are comfortable around dogs, and everyone should meet him before adoption. Bazzle has previously lived with another male dog and is quite social, although he can be a little worried and appeasing when first meeting new dogs. He may enjoy having a calm and social doggie friend to help him feel confident and learn from.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
