Sofia's Story

Hi im Sofia and I'm a fun-loving, energetic girl looking for a home that can keep up with my active lifestyle! As a working breed, I love having things to do and will thrive with a family that can provide me with plenty of daily exercise, training, and enrichment to keep both my body and mind busy.

I'd really love a home with another friendly dog to play with, but I'd also be happy with an active family who enjoys adventures and including me in their daily activities. I enjoy being around people and being part of the action.

I can live with children, but I can be a little bouncy and excited when I first meet new friends. Because of this, any children in the home should come along to meet me before adoption to make sure we're the perfect match.

At the moment, I'm not overly interested in toys, but that may change once I'm settled into my new home and feeling comfortable.

My ideal home would have:

  • An active family or lifestyle.
  • Another friendly dog to keep me company (preferred).
  • Secure fencing.
  • Plenty of daily exercise, training, and enrichment.
  • Children who can come and meet me before adoption.

If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who is always ready for the next adventure, I might just be the girl for you!

What should I feed my puppy?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my puppy?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
