Andy's Story

To infinity... and your home! 🚀🐾

Howdy, partner! My name is Andy, and just like the famous kid from Toy Story, I'm ready to find my very own forever family. I'm a happy, affectionate young fella who loves being part of the adventure and spending time with my favourite humans.

I'm a clever toy... I mean, boy! I've already mastered sit, down, shake, and go to your bed, and because treats are my version of Pizza Planet prizes, training is one of my favourite games. I'm still young and sometimes get a little Buzz Lightyear-level excited, but I'm eager to learn and be the best companion I can be.

I've enjoyed making friends with other dogs here at the shelter and may suit a home with a well-matched canine buddy after thoughtful introductions. Whether it's playing with toys, tackling enrichment activities, or heading out on daily adventures, I'm always ready to join the mission.

Most of all, I'm looking for a family who'll make me feel like I've got a place in their toy box forever. Someone who'll keep teaching me new tricks, include me in their adventures, and shower me with plenty of love and cuddles along the way.So if you're looking for a loyal friend who's got a heart full of love and a spirit ready for adventure, then there's only one thing left to say:

"You've got a friend in me!" ❤️🐾

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
