Bailey's Story

Bailey is a wonderful boy who truly shines when he has a predictable routine and a patient, older family who understands his need for consistency. Once he knows what to expect in his upcoming day, Bailey settles beautifully into home life and forms strong bonds with his people.

In his foster home, Bailey has become increasingly comfortable and confident. He sleeps soundly through the night in his crate, enjoys daily walks, and loves exploring alongside his family. While he can be sensitive to new sights and sounds, particularly traffic and movement around roads, his confidence continues to grow and he's recovering from these experiences much more quickly than before.

Bailey is an active and intelligent dog who thrives when given outlets for both his body and mind. He loves his enrichment activities, with milk bottles being a particular favourite, and he enjoys getting out and about for walks. He travels well in the car and now happily jumps in on his own.

Bailey has enjoyed off-lead playdates with other dogs and is social with canine friends, although he can be a little rough and enthusiastic during play. His new family should be prepared to help him continue learning appropriate social skills and boundaries.

Bailey is looking for a home that can provide consistency, understanding, and patience as he continues to build confidence. In return, you'll gain a loyal, loving companion who is happiest when sharing life's daily routines with the people he trusts.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
