Bambi's Story

Bambi is an affectionate and gentle young boy looking for a calm, loving home where he can truly thrive.

Shelter life has been quite overwhelming for Bambi, and he can be shy and worried when meeting new people. He will need a patient owner who is happy to take things slowly and allow him time to build trust. The good news? His way to friendship is through roast chicken! Using tasty treats and positive experiences will help create a strong bond with this sensitive little guy.

Once Bambi feels safe, his beautiful personality shines through. He absolutely loves being close to his people, jumping onto laps, showering them with kisses, and soaking up affection. He is looking for a home where he can be included as part of the family and allowed indoors, as he loves companionship and may struggle if left alone for long periods.

Bambi enjoys gentle walks and would do best starting out in quiet, familiar areas. Busy streets, crowded parks, and bustling cafes can be overwhelming for him while he continues to build confidence.

His new family should be aware that Bambi can be quick around doorways and may try to slip past when someone leaves. Ongoing training such as "stay," "on your bed," or crate training will help him learn good household manners.

Bambi knows how to sit, although it often turns into an adorable beg! He may be suitable for calm, respectful teenagers or older children who can understand his sensitive nature.

If there is another dog in the home, a meet and greet will be required. Bambi can be unsure at first, but with time he gains confidence and is very respectful of canine body language. He would be best suited to a calm dog of a similar size.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little patience to blossom, Bambi could be the perfect match for you.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
