Karlee's Story

Karlee is a sweet, goofy young pup who is full of life and potential. Unfortunately, she hasn't had the best start in life and likely missed out on some important early socialisation experiences. Because of this, Karlee will need a patient and dedicated family who can provide the time, support, and understanding she needs to build confidence and thrive.

Karlee is not your average carefree puppy and will do best in a calm, quiet home with plenty of structure and routine. As she adjusts to a new environment, she is likely to be timid and unsure, looking to her new family for reassurance and guidance as she learns about the world around her.

She would love to have both indoor and outdoor access so she can be included in daily family activities. A crate or den area is highly recommended, giving her a safe and comfortable space to retreat to whenever she feels worried or overwhelmed.

Karlee is currently learning that people aren't so scary. She can be quite silly and often displays appeasing behaviours when interacting with humans. She may occasionally have nervous accidents when feeling overwhelmed, so it is important that her new family allows her to approach at her own pace and continues to reward her with plenty of tasty treats and positive experiences.

Touch is another area Karlee is still learning to feel comfortable with. She is working on understanding touch consent and building positive associations with handling through reward-based training. Having been the most nervous puppy in her litter, Karlee will need extra patience, kindness, and encouragement while she continues to gain confidence.

Her adopters will need to continue teaching her basic manners, including keeping all four paws on the floor, as well as providing plenty of brain training and enrichment opportunities. Feeding meals through enrichment toys and activities is recommended to help keep her mind active, engaged, and prevent boredom.

Karlee is also just beginning her lead-training journey. She is still learning the basics, so her new family should be prepared to start from scratch within the home environment. Building a strong bond and confidence at home should come first, followed by gentle lead practice in the backyard before gradually progressing to the driveway and eventually quiet walks around the neighbourhood.

She has recently started showing interest in toys and is learning how to play. While she is still figuring things out, Karlee is blossoming into a cheeky young pup with plenty of energy, character, and love to give. With the right home and ongoing support, she has all the potential to grow into a wonderful companion.

Karlee is best suited to a home with older children who can meet her prior to adoption and who understand basic dog body language. Any resident dogs will also need to meet Karlee before adoption to ensure a suitable match.
