Squire's Story

Meet Squire – A Clever, Energetic Companion 🐾

Squire is a social and spirited cattle dog boy who’s ready to find an experienced home that understands and appreciates his intelligent, active nature. True to his breed, Squire is a smart little cookie who already knows a variety of tricks and genuinely enjoys learning new things. He thrives when his mind is engaged, making him a fantastic match for someone who enjoys ongoing training and enrichment.

This playful lad absolutely loves a good game of fetch—and he’s even mastering the impressive skill of dropping the ball right into your hand! Whether it’s running, learning, or playing, Squire is happiest when he’s spending quality time with his people and putting both his brain and body to work.

Squire would benefit from a home committed to continuing his training, helping him stay the well-mannered gentleman we know him to be. Consistency, structure, and plenty of positive reinforcement will help him shine.

He has previously lived with another dog and could happily do so again, especially with a playful companion who can keep up with his energy but is also happy to settle down for a nap afterwards. The perfect match would be another dog that enjoys both playtime and relaxation.

Squire is also a true water lover—give him a chance for a paddle after a game of fetch, and you’ll have one very happy pup! Because he can get a little excitable at times, he would be best suited to a home with older children, or kids who already have experience living with an active, enthusiastic dog like him.

With the right home, Squire will be a loyal, fun-loving, and incredibly rewarding companion. If you’re looking for a bright, active dog with plenty of personality and a love for life, Squire might just be your perfect match 💙

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
