Banjo's Story

🐶 Meet Banjo, a sweet and social 4‑month‑old puppy with a heart full of love and resilience beyond his years. After a rough start to life that resulted in a leg amputation, Banjo is bravely learning how to navigate the world on three legs - and he's doing an amazing job. He adores being part of the family and would love a home where he can be included in daily activities and grow up feeling safe, supported, and loved. Being a young pup, Banjo is still learning his basics and will benefit from ongoing training and guidance. He's very food‑motivated, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience. Banjo absolutely loves his toys and enjoys playful interactions both with people and on his own, but he also knows when it's time to rest - happily plopping down beside you for a cuddle. He may be suited to a home with another calm, social dog, but meets are essential to ensure a good match, as he needs gentle canine companions who respect his space while he heals. With the right family, Banjo will grow into a devoted, affectionate companion who proves that a little extra care can lead to a whole lot of love. 💙

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
