Nasa's Story

NASA - 2yo Kelpie Mix, Black, Brilliant & Ready for Launch High‑energy sweetheart • Genius‑level trainability • People‑loving space cadet If you've ever wished you could adopt a dog who's basically a tiny astronaut in a fur suit... meet Nasa. She's two years old, black, sleek, athletic, and so smart she could probably run your household systems if you gave her a headset and a whiteboard. NASA arrived with an unknown history after coming from an outback pound, and we know she's had pups in the past - but what she's ready for now is her own mission, her own crew, and a family who sees the brilliance behind those bright, eager eyes. Mission Specs: Who Nasa Is - A sweet, affectionate, happy soul who loves people and enjoys close handling - Equally capable of settling independently, lounging with her toys, or entertaining herself with solo play - High energy, athletic, and loves a good yard zoom - especially if there are birds to chase - Toilet trained and keeps her pen spotless - Crate trained and has lovely manners; happily pops back onto her bed after yard time - Excellent traveller in the car - Walks beautifully on harness and is responsive, engaged, and eager to please - Highly trainable - the kind of dog who thrives on mental enrichment, puzzles, cues, and learning new things - Has walked well with other shelter dogs; can be a bit bossy if off‑leash play gets too rowdy - Because she loves a good bird‑chase, pocket pets and free‑ranging chooks are not recommended Her Superpower: Intelligence That Needs a Match Nasa isn't just "smart for a dog". She's smart‑smart. The kind of girl who learns fast, reads the room, and checks in with you like she's waiting for mission instructions. She needs an adopter who enjoys training, enrichment, and giving a clever dog the stimulation she deserves. If you've ever wanted a dog who can actually use the snuffle mat, puzzle toys, trick training, and structured adventures you dream up - she's your girl. Ideal Home Base NASA would fit beautifully into most homes as long as: - Her physical and mental needs are met - She gets to be included as part of the family - She has structure, enrichment, and opportunities to learn - Her people appreciate a dog who is both high‑energy and deeply sweet. She's ready for her forever crew - the people who will love her, guide her, and give her the life she's been waiting for. Nasa is cleared for take‑off. If you're looking for a bright, joyful, affectionate, ridiculously clever companion... your mission starts here.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
