Suzy's Story

Suzy is a beautiful soul carrying a heartbreaking past. She has known cruelty and abuse and, as a result, the world still feels uncertain to her. While she is unsure who she can trust, Suzy shows us every day that her heart remains soft and hopeful. With slow, gentle interactions and by being given choice and agency, Suzy begins to blossom. When she decides she is ready, she approaches quietly, offering soft licks and hopeful eyes-small but deeply touching moments that show her desire to connect. She truly wants to make friends; she's just afraid of being hurt again. At some point in her past, Suzy has had puppies, and despite all she has endured, her capacity to love is enormous. She has a huge, forgiving heart that will overflow with devotion for those who give her patience, kindness, and reassurance. Once Suzy trusts you, she becomes playful & animated, giving big hugs & becoming your shadow dog. She has a zest for life & a twinkle in her eye when she feels safe & loved. AS she has settled in, we are starting to see a cheeky, loving girl who enjoys being around her favourite people. 🐾 In the home: It is a non-negotiable that Suzy be allowed to live indoors with her family. * Toilet trained and keeps her pen clean * Thrives in predictable, peaceful environments Suzy would suit a calm, low‑key household where she can decompress at her own pace. Baby steps are essential for her-she cannot be rushed or pushed into overwhelming situations. 🐕 Other pets & children * Could live with another friendly, sociable dog, pending a successful meet * We recommend older, dog‑savvy children, as Suzy is easily worried by new people and sudden changes 🌱 The home Suzy dreams of Suzy is looking for a guardian who understands that trust takes time-and who will celebrate every small win along the way. In return, she will offer a depth of loyalty and love that only a truly gentle soul can give. She is a divine girl, longing for a brighter future filled with love, trust, safety, and patience. If you believe in second chances and have room in your heart for a dog who just needs time, Suzy is waiting.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
