Desmond's Story
Meet Desmond, a male Shetland Pony.
Desmond has a gentle nature and is looking for an experienced and patient home. He is comfortable being around people once trust is built and enjoys gentle pats and head scratches - showing his softer side in calm, low-pressure interactions.
At this stage, Desmond is not halter or lead trained and becomes quite panicked when pressure is applied on a lead. If this is something his new owners are wanting to do in the future, Desmond will require daily or very regular, positive desensitisation work to help him build confidence and learn that halter and lead handling is safe.
He has previously lived as a paddock pony alongside other livestock, including sheep, goats and several other ponies - and would be well suited to a similar setup with appropriate companions. Desmond will thrive with a knowledgeable, patient handler who understands slow-paced training and is happy to let him progress in his own time.
With consistency, kindness, and the right environment, Desmond has great potential to continue building trust and confidence with his future carers.
