Muffin's Story

Meet Muffin, a sweet girl who lives up to her name! Muffin has a heart full of love and is looking for a safe space to call home. She can be worried in new environments and may take a little time to warm up, but once she settles in, she is sure to be your new best friend. Sometimes, when the shelter grows quiet at night, Muffin curls up in her bed and watches the door as if she's still hoping someone might walk in just for her. She's seen other dogs come and go - excited faces leaving with their new families - and though she tries to be brave, it's hard not to wonder why she's still waiting. All she wants is a person to choose her, to show her that her story doesn't end in a kennel but in a home filled with warmth, patience and love. Muffin has so much affection she's been saving for the right person and it's heartbreaking to think she's had to hold onto it for this long. She loves nothing more than a gentle pat, nice calm walks and a cozy couch to cuddle up on. Muffin hast had the easiest start to life and is looking for someone who she can truly feel at peace with. Muffin has been in care for quite some time now and is still waiting for that one special person to choose her. Muffin's early experiences have also left her feeling unsure around other dogs. She can become worried in their presence, especially if they're energetic or pushy, and it's clear she would feel safest as the only dog in her home. What she longs for is a quiet space where she doesn't have to compete for attention or navigate the stress of sharing her world. A home where she can finally relax, knowing she's the one and only, would mean everything to her. If you have room in your home and heart for a girl who's been waiting far too long, Muffin is ready to finally be loved the way she deserves! She can't wait to meet the person who will change her life.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
