Close up of a goanna with an arrow through its back

RSPCA is asking for public assistance to help track down the person who shot a goanna on Mt Glorious with an arrow. The goanna was first seen on Saturday afternoon (January 12th) with an arrow protruding from its body but then disappeared before anyone was able to catch him.

Goanna up a tree with an arrow through its back

Yesterday he was spotted again and an RSPCA Inspector and rescue unit went out and were able to catch him. The arrow fell out during the rescue but the goanna is now being treated at RSPCA Qld’s Wildlife Hospital at Wacol.

The goanna was well known to local residents and had been living in the area for many years. Understandably the residents are very upset.

We are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information to contact them on 1300 264 625.

Mt Glorious is a national park so it’s possible that the perpetrator could have been visiting the area.
