RSPCA Qld’s EMU (Educational Mobile Unit) will be heading to the Burdekin Shire during the week beginning Monday August 24th.
EMU’s recently updated classroom caters for “kids” from 1 to 100, with computers, games and activities, teachers resources, displays and RSPCA campaign information.
Thanks to funding from the Burdekin Shire EMU will make its way into classrooms and throughout the Burdekin.
There will also be a special pet party evening at the Ayr Showgrounds the afternoon of the 24th from 4pm -7pm.
Apart from the opportunity to board EMU there will be $10 pet portraits, a sausage sizzle, free pet training, 2 jumping castles and microchipping for only $25.
By the way…Emu’s new features include:
- A Human sized battery hen cage – feel the squeeze inside the cage of terror!
- A “threats to wildlife diorama” - see if you can discover all the threats to our Australian native animals
- Careers in animal care – discover information about being a vet/nurse, groomer, ranger or RSPCA worker.
Aboard EMU you will also receive basic, informed advice on how to avoid being bitten by dogs and the right pet to choose for your particular lifestyle.
“It’s also a chance to learn about humane values and animal care in a fun-filled and challenging way,” says RSPCA Qld’s Senior Education Officer Daryl Joy. “The lessons not only teach the students to care and respect all creatures great and small, but also help to shape compassionate and humane citizens of the future.”
