RSPCA Qld is appealing for any information in relation to the shooting of a curlew on the morning of Thursday December 13th. An informant found the bird with an arrow embedded in its side in a park on Woodrose Road Morayfield.

A group of children, approximately 12 years old, one of whom had blond hair and was only wearing underwear, was spotted nearby. When the woman asked if they’d shot the bird, it’s alleged the oldest looking boy in the group said “yes.” It’s believed it was shot with a crossbow.

Incredibly the curlew survived and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at Australia Zoo.
