Learn dog body language
While our canine companions can’t speak to us verbally, we can learn a lot about what they are saying through body language.

Meet Hugo! Hugo is a gentle, soft‑spoken cat who’s looking for a calm, understanding home where he can feel safe enough to settle in at his own pace. Because he can be easily overwhelmed, he will need to begin his new life in a small launch room, giving him time to adjust before exploring the rest of the house. A home filled with cozy hiding spots, scratch posts, cat trees, and places both high and low to perch, to help him feel secure. He’ll thrive with an adopter who understands that timid cats need patience and consistency, and who can recognize when he needs space. Recommended that he goes to a home with older children who can read basic cat body language. Hugo is social with other cats and may also do well with a calm, friendly dog as long as interactions are monitored.
Hugo enjoys having his own space and will often take a short wander before returning to his cozy spot. He absolutely loves his food—he’ll happily lick any bowl clean—and he’ll meow softly for attention or a gentle pat.
With time, patience, and a predictable environment, Hugo will reveal his sweet, affectionate nature and become a loyal companion.
