Ruth's Story

Ruth is a bright, active young girl who absolutely loves to play and brings joy and enthusiasm to everything she does. Despite only having three legs, nothing slows this resilient little lady down—she races after soft toys and balls with excitement and determination, showing just how adaptable and spirited she is. Ruth also enjoys entertaining herself, happily engaging in solo play and exploring her environment.

She has a sweet, affectionate nature and will thrive in a home where she is included as part of the family. Ruth loves being indoors with her people, where she can feel safe, comfortable, and involved in daily life. With her playful personality and loving heart, she is sure to bring smiles and laughter to those around her.

Ruth can become a little mouthy at times, as many young dogs do, and will benefit from ongoing, consistent training in the home. Redirecting her onto toys and rewarding calm, relaxed behaviour will help her continue to grow into a well-mannered companion. She is a clever girl who enjoys food-based enrichment—snuffle mats, treat boxes, egg cartons, and even milk bottles are great ways to keep her mind busy and engaged.

As Ruth is still sensitive around the area where her leg was removed, she may become mouthy with close handling or restraint. It’s important to go slowly, respect her boundaries, and pay close attention to her body language to build trust and confidence.

Ruth would be best suited to a home with teenagers, though calm and respectful older children may be considered. All family members should be involved in providing clear, consistent guidance to support her development.

She enjoys the company of other dogs and can be playful and a little silly when interacting with them. However, as she is still learning to balance on three legs, she will need a calm, gentle canine companion who won’t accidentally knock her over.
