Dune's Story
Heeey my name is Dune and I'm a cute Kimberly Rock Monitor! You probably haven't seen a monitor like me before, we are from the far northwest of Australia in the Kimberly region.
I'm still young and want to continue my new start with an owner who knows their stuff about monitors! I'm still learning to be comfortable with people, but my training with tong feeding is helping. I have a lot to learn so I need someone who can be patient with me.
As you can see in my photo, I am missing most of my tail. This happened before I came to the RSPCA, but they assessed everything and I am all good. Like duh - have you seen how I climb!!
The majority of my diet is insects like crickets, woodies or mealworms. As I'm still growing, I get the occasional boiled egg pieces and mince mixed with insectivore powder. I need a good variety to keep me growing healthy!
As adults, we usually get up to around 80cm, but that's mostly tail! So, I will probably only be around 30cm fully grown! I will require a UV light, heat lamp and a hide if I need a getaway. I love climbing around so want a nice elevate rock or log to bask on.
If you think I might be the perfect fit for your family, please fill out an adoption application today! https://www.rspcaqld.org.au/expression-of-interest-to-adopt
