Lady's Story

Lady has a cheeky, confident personality and a playful little "trouble maker" streak. She is a social and engaging pup who enjoys interacting with people and other dogs, and she is already showing a strong willingness to learn and please her humans. Lady is very sweet and snuggly, and she is already picking up early training foundations such as sitting for her meals and snacks. Crate training is progressing nicely as she begins to understand routine and structure, and toilet training is also coming along well for her age. Lady is an active, playful puppy who enjoys social interaction and can be a bit cheeky in play, so ongoing guidance and supervision will be important as she grows. Like all young Staffy pups, she will benefit from puppy preschool or training classes to continue building her manners, confidence, and focus. She will also need plenty of enrichment to keep her busy puppy mind engaged, including chew toys, food puzzles, and interactive play.

What should I feed my puppy?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my puppy?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
