Learn dog body language
While our canine companions can’t speak to us verbally, we can learn a lot about what they are saying through body language.

Meet Bear!
Bear is a cheeky, affectionate and playful young boy with plenty of energy and personality. He is looking for an active family who can provide structure, routine and lots of opportunities for both mental and physical enrichment. With the right guidance, Bear has the potential to grow into a wonderful companion.
Bear loves his toys, especially soft toys, and is still learning how to play appropriately. He is eager to engage with people and enjoys being part of the action, but he will benefit from ongoing training and support. Bear has had limited previous training and currently only knows a basic sit, so his new family should be prepared to continue his education using positive reinforcement methods.
Bear can be sensitive in new situations and may feel worried around unfamiliar people, environments or novel objects. He has shown some concern around items such as a mop handle and can be wary of large or fast movements, although he does recover with reassurance. For this reason, we recommend someone be home for the first few days after adoption to help him settle into his new routine and build confidence.
When excited, Bear can become over-aroused and mouthy during interactions, although his mouthing is gentle. He will benefit from impulse control exercises, enrichment activities and continued positive training to help him develop appropriate coping skills.
Due to a history of jumping over high fences and digging underneath them, Bear will require very secure fencing and careful management. He may also cope better being left indoors when unsupervised.
Bear previously lived with another dog. Must meet any resident dogs prior to adoption and would likely do best with a calm, social and tolerant canine companion.
Bear is open to the right family—one that can provide patience, consistency and understanding while he continues to learn about the world. In return, you'll gain a fun-loving, affectionate young dog who is ready to build a strong bond with his new people.
