This role involves coordinating our very busy reception desk at the shelter. Tasks include: preparing the RSPCA reception area for opening and closing - including general cleaning and tidying (dusting, sweeping, mopping, disinfecting surfaces); restocking the retail shop and facing up the displays; sorting and putting away donated items; greeting customers; assisting with data entry; processing virtual adoption applications; answering the phones; responding to emails; typing correspondence; and other general office administration tasks.

This role is available on the following days and shift times:

- Wednesday AFTERNOONS 1pm-5pm

- Thursdays MORNINGS 9am-1pm, AFTERNOONS 1pm-5pm

- Fridays MORNINGS 9am-1pm, AFTERNOONS 1pm-5pm

- Saturdays MORNINGS 9am-1pm, AFTERNOONS 1pm-5pm

We ask for a commitment of one shift per week for a minimum of 3 months. Full orientation and training is provided.

Skills required – Good people skills, the ability to work both independently and as a part of a team, be physically fit. Excellent communication skills. Computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and Database entry. Ability to work independently, take initiative and multitask. 

Skills to be gained – Knowledge of the RSPCA. Experience with various administrative and retail duties, and further develop customer service skills. Learning to interact with all our animals and spending quality enrichment time with the animals and saving lives!
