This rewarding volunteer role would suit any applicants wishing to gain experience in the animal industry, people that love animals, and anyone looking for a worthwhile way to spend their spare time.
The position itself involves taking dogs of all shapes and sizes for walks in the area surrounding our shelter. You do need to be fit and confident in handling dogs. You may also like to do some training with the dogs to assist them in finding a new home. The position is available on any day 7.30am - 10pm, or 3pm - 5pm. We ask for a minimum commitment of 1 shift per week for a period of 3 months. Full orientation and training is provided.
Skills required – Animal confidence, the ability to work independently.
Skills to be gained – Animal handling and training techniques, animal disease control, animal shelter experience, experience with many different breeds of dog.

Volunteer characteristics required – Good team work skills, a love of animals.
PLEASE NOTE: As part of volunteering with us you will be required to purchase an RSPCA Volunteer T-shirt for $30. It is also a requirement you have an up to date Tetanus vaccination that before handling animals at the RSPCA.
