If you are passionate about animals and making a real difference to their care and welfare, this rewarding volunteer role could be for you. The Volunteer Transfer Driver role primarily involves the collection and transferring of animals between Mackay, Townsville, Bowen and Bundaberg.
The driver will be responsible for the safe transportation of the animals in their care, and will be representing the RSPCA in a positive manner whilst driving an RSPCA branded vehicle. In this role the driver will also be required to liaise with a number of other agencies with whom the RSPCA is affiliated.
This role is flexible, as the day and time of the transfers will depend on when they need to be done. The volunteer in this role may also be asked to do short vet trips taking the adoption centre animals to a local vet for treatment. A commitment of three months is required. Full orientation and training is provided.
Skills required – Courteous and considerate driver with good communication skills. Hold a current driver’s licence. Sound driving skills with trailer experience preferred and the ability to cope in traffic. Physically fit and able to lift 10kg. Good animal handling skills.

PLEASE NOTE: As part of volunteering with us you will be required to purchase an RSPCA Volunteer T-shirt for $30. It is also a requirement that before handling animals at the RSPCA you have an up to date Tetanus vaccination.
