Indy's Story

Meet Indy!

Indy is a gorgeous, affectionate girl who is looking for a family where she can be allowed inside and fully involved in everyday life. In true bully style, she absolutely loves her toys—running around with them, shaking them, and tossing them in the air! She is a massive fan of enrichment games, and things like snuffle mats, licky mats, egg cartons, and milk bottles are the perfect ways to keep her clever mind busy. Indy loves being close to her people and is going to make the absolute perfect companion for an active household.

Because Indy can become highly aroused and fixated during playtime, she is best suited to a home with older children where games can be closely monitored and given a clear "finish" cue, so she knows when it is time to calm down. To keep everyone happy, Indy needs a home with no cats or other small animals. Indy is dog social, and would be best suited to calm, social and tolerant doggy friend. Must meet other dogs at time of adoption.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
