Lindsay's Story

Hi, I'm Lindsay! I made my way to the RSPCA after me and my brother were surrendered to the pound. I was in a little bit of rough shape as I had very itchy skin which caused me to scratch lots of my hair off! But don't worry I've already improved very quickly with the care from staff and vollies, and I am in good health even if I look a little patchy! I was a very nervous girl when I first arrived, and sometimes new things can still scare me, but my confidence has bloomed whilst I've been here! So, my new home will need to be patient and gentle with me whilst I settle in and will need to continue working on my socialisation. I was a bit unsure of this whole "walking" thing when I first arrived but now, I love my daily walkies! I've gone out on lots of group walks with other dogs too and I get along great with them, I do enjoy a little play here and there as well! Older kids are preferred due to being a little nervous. So, if you're looking for a very a super sweet girls who needs a loving and understanding home then come meet me today!

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
