Learn dog body language
While our canine companions can’t speak to us verbally, we can learn a lot about what they are saying through body language.

Meet Patrick, a sweet and resilient older gentleman looking for a quiet and patient home where he can truly shine. Patrick entered our care with his mother, Petunia, following the passing of his owner. At the time, Patrick had some eye issues that left him nearly blind. Fortunately, following a successful eye surgery, Patrick's vision has improved, though it remains quite poor. While the loud shelter environment initially overwhelmed him, he has completely transformed into a social, affectionate boy who loves receiving gentle pats, being brushed, and snacking on roast chicken. He is incredibly responsive to his name, so talking to him before you approach is the perfect way to navigate his limited vision and ensure he feels safe.
Patrick will thrive in a peaceful, indoor-only environment well-suited to a household with teenagers or older children who understand basic cat body language and know how to respect his space. While he has spent his whole life coexisting beautifully with Petunia, he remains untested with other felines, meaning any potential cat siblings would require a very slow, closely monitored introduction process.
