Testimonials from volunteers

I've always wanted to work with animals and volunteer when I retired so I was really lucky to get exactly the job I wanted. I really love my work; my first love is cats and dogs.

Marion Johnson, Fairfield Vet Nurse Volunteer, 18 months of service

I always thought when I retired the only charity I would want to work with would be with animals so I started off in '95 as a shelter volunteer and then by '96 I was already voted president of the branch and by '96 I ran the first Million Paws Walk in Bundaberg and ran that for six years. I like volunteering because I’m helping the animals and keeping myself occupied so I feel useful and I find that by working with a group of people you are a great support for each other. With life's little problems you help each other, you get a lot more out of it than what you put in.

Estelle Hansen, President of the Bundaberg Branch, volunteer of 9.5 years

I'm a new volunteer so the hardest part so far has been not taking home a kitten, apart from that its all good.

Lauren Ball, volunteer web designer, on her first day

I find volunteering very rewarding and fulfilling and its nice to know I’m making a difference. Even if I'm not working directly with the animals.
