Do you have a few hours to spare during the morning, to help our regular volunteers with the early morning clean before the shelter opens to the public?

The position will involve the daily cleaning of the animals' pens, hosing, sweeping and scooping up of poop! Hygiene control is very important, as is ensuring that the animals remain stocked up with food, water, bedding and toys.

People applying for this position need to be happy to work hard, be physically fit, and be willing to get their hands dirty for a good cause!

The position is available Mon - Sun 8.30am-10am and we request a minimum commitment of 1 shift per week. Full orientation and training will be provided.

Skills required – Confidence with animals, the ability to work independently, the ability to stand for long periods, be physically fit, ability to cope with increased noise levels, attention to detail, ability to follow instructions.

Skills to be gained – Animal husbandry, animal handling and training techniques, animal disease control, animal shelter experience, basic animal behaviour knowledge.

PLEASE NOTE: As part of volunteering with us you will be required to purchase an RSPCA Volunteer T-shirt for $25. It is also a requirement that before handling animals at the RSPCA you have an up to date Tetanus vaccination.
