Dog Training
The RSPCA Qld Animal Training & Behaviour Centre offers a variety of programs to suit any dog, irrespective of age from puppy to adulthood.
All training programs use positive reinforcement training techniques which result in confident and well-adjusted family companions.
We focus on good manners, helping you to develop the skills to teach your companion any desirable behaviour required.
Home/Private training session: Can’t make group classes? Need help with a specific training issue? Experienced trainers are available to help you on request animaltrainingcentre@rspcaqld.org.au.
Behavioural Consultation: Does your dog or cat have really challenging behaviour? Can’t find your problem addresses in our other programs? A 1 1/2 - 2 hour consultation may be the answer for you. A detailed history is taken prior to the appointment so we can make the most of the appointment, and strategies will be put in place so that you can help your animal move forward. K9 Kindergarten: |
Get your puppy off to the right start, a fun program that introduces appropriate manners and interactions. Puppies from 8-16 weeks of age.

Junior Manners: |
For fully vaccinated puppies, this program aims to provide you with support during one of the most challenging periods in your dog's life. Focusing on developing your puppies manners for the world around them
|
|
Basic: |
Designed to for dogs who have not had any formal training before. A great introduction to skills you and your dog will use everyday. Includes, loose lead walking, stay, come and many others. Dogs from 16 weeks of age.

|
Intermediate: |
In this fun filled program you will teach your dog to work in closer proximity to other dogs and help your dog to respond to you under increasing distractions. Prerequisite – completion of Basic Program.

Rally-O & Trick Training:
|
This program is designed as a fun way to maintain and develop a deeper level of communication between you and your dog. Rally -o is a game that will enhance your training skills, the trick component will broaden this experience and leaves a smile on your face.

|
Calm Class:
|
For boisterous, challenging dogs and their families to help them manage and redirect inappropriate behaviours. It is also a great program for dogs lacking in confidence to providing them with carefully controlled challenges. Pre-requisite: behaviour consultation

|
Dog Sport:
|
An active skill based class that will help you and your dog prepare for dog sports such as Agility, Disk Dogs and Flyball. Great for energetic dogs.

|
Agility: |
Focusing on obstacles, a great way to get you and your dog active. Agility increases your dogs focus on you and is a fun rewarding way to spend time with your dog. Prerequisite – completion of the Dog Sport Prep Course.

|
Disc Dogs:
|
Disc dog is a fun class that involves running, jumping, catching. Our class is designed to help you and your companion learn to enjoy this great activity safely. Prerequisite – completion of the Dog Sport Prep Course.

|
Flyball: |
This class entails your dog learning to complete a set of hurdles, retrieve a ball and return to you, as part of a relay team of four dogs, whilst racing another team of four dogs. Prerequisite – completion of the Dog Sport Prep Course.

Training Skills Program:
|
With 25 years of experience in Pet Dog Training, our presenters can help you identify the strategies and techniques that will help you succeed and how to recognise fads and pitfalls in advance.

Conditions of class participation During the first class, we will check all vaccination certificates to ensure that every animal coming to our centre is healthy and fully vaccinated.
