Animals in Schools

 

RSPCA Qld exists to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection. This includes ensuring the humane treatment and welfare of all animals that are used in Queensland schools and teaching facilities. New guidelines exist contained within the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001. These guideline supersede The Care and Use of Animals in schools: policy and Guidelines, 1997. Any organisation or individual who currently uses, or plans to use, animals for teaching purposes (or keeps animals in a classroom) must comply with these new guidelines which are located at:
