Holding your own event is a fun way to help RSPCA Qld raise vital funds to help the more than 41,000 animals that we care for every year.
We can guide you on running your own event and provide posters and brochures to help make your event a success. Below are a few fundraising ideas, but the possibilities are limited only by your imagination!
Host a trivia night
Trivia nights are a fun way of getting groups of people together to raise funds for the RSPCA. Ask friends, family, work colleagues, clients etc. to fill tables of ten at a cost of $10 per person, for example. There could be ten rounds of ten questions with small prizes for the winning table per round and a prize for the overall winner.
BBQ
Why not hold a BBQ at your school, workplace or community group? Some companies such as Bunnings and Mitre 10 will allow you to organise one on site. Please ensure that all food provided complies with RSPCA Qld's Food Policy.
Dress down day at work
Organise a casual dress down day at work and ask participants for a gold coin donation to be donated to RSPCA Qld. To get in the spirit of fundraising, perhaps staff members could dress up as their favourite animal!
Barefoot lawn bowls
A set entry fee could cover food, drinks and green fees. You could also have prizes for the worst roll, best costume and so on.
eBay auction
Got a painting with nowhere to hang it? A set of golf clubs that you just haven’t used? Put unwanted or donated items for auction on eBay and donate the money towards your fundraising goal.
Movie nights
Cinemas can be really helpful and open their doors for a movie screening, with a percentage of ticket sales to go towards RSPCA QLD.
Self-sacrifice
Make the ultimate sacrifice and give up chocolate for two months and ask your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor your pledge! Or instead of buying your morning coffee or lunch, make it at home or work and donate the money you would have spent towards achieving your fundraising goal.
Garage sale
Collect household items, books, clothes, furniture and bric-a-brac from friends, family and co-workers and hold a garage sale. Advertise in your local paper or in the relevant section in The Courier-Mail. Invite your friends to help on the day.
Raffle
Use your contacts with businesses and friends and ask for an item to be donated and used as a raffle prize. Recruit a group of people to sell raffle tickets for $2 each or 6 for $10 (for example) and raise as much money as you can.
There are some rules for conducting a raffle. On any advertising material you should state the retail value of the prize, the cost of the tickets, the time, date and where the raffle is being drawn, and how the winners will be contacted (phone, mail etc).
